Linus (Carl) Pauling (1901­1994) was a two-time Nobel Prize-winning 
chemist and activist who made great advancements in the 
understanding of molecular structures and chemical bonding. He was also 
strongly involved in the international control of nuclear weapons and 
other peace initiatives.
